The index of the insurance market activity. Methods of calculation The index is calculated starting from March 2010.
The index at the time reference equals to 100.
Frequency of index calculation - monthly. Index components:
1.
| Public events (number per period). This index component is calculated as the ratio of the number of public events (exhibitions, conferences, forums, etc.) during the sample period to the reference period. The data are taken from all available public sources, except for the websites of insurance companies. Component weight – 0.1.
| | 2. | Companies’ news. This index component is calculated as the ratio of companies’ public news during the sample period relative to the reference period. The data are taken from all available public sources, except for the websites of insurance companies. Component weight – 0.5.

| Number of revoked IC licenses (except the ones revoked due to mergers and acquisitions, as well as in case of voluntary renunciation of "re-insurance"). Component weight – 0.15. Inverse component *. | 4.
| The number of suspended IC licenses, reduced by the number of renewed licenses. Component weight – 0.1 Inverse component.
| 5.
| The number of arbitration cases registered in the category of “non-performance or improper performance of obligations under insurance contracts” in Moscow Arbitration Court. Search by the date of case registration in court. Component weight – 0.15. Inverse component.
| 6.
| Quarterly volume of charges of all IC. Component weight – 0.5. |

l - parameter equal to 1 referring to main components and -1 referring to the inverse ones
pi0 - benchmark of the i component at the time of inclusion into the index
Кi - weight of the i component - The structure of the index allows for the addition of new and the elimination of former components.
- The replacement of the component weight is not allowed. If necessary, the component is excluded from the index and a new component with new Кi and pi0 indicators is included.
- If at the moment of rating calculation a new value of any component is absent, the rating includes the former value of the component.

In
June, the index of business activity continued declining. The
key factors and trends of its influence as compared to June are shown
in Fig. 2.
The
maximum effect on index drop has been produced by the increase of the
“number of revoked IC licenses” (3, June – 9, July), as
well as by reducing the number of public events in the market (from 6
to 5) and company news (from 163 to 156). The number of suspended IC
licenses decreased compared to June (from 9 to 4), which had a
positive impact on the value of the index. The number of arbitration
cases against insurance companies also slightly declined, which had a
positive impact on the index.
